Being a creative writing workshop, it's necessary that we are open and comfortable creating and sharing amongst each other. Writers With Attitude is committed to fostering a culture of respect. Everyone’s ideas and perspectives are welcomed and encouraged. Constructive feedback is always given with kindness, and we’re here to support each other’s growth. We celebrate diversity in all forms—whether it’s differences in background, experience, or style. What’s shared in the workshop stays in the workshop. This confidentiality ensures that everyone feels comfortable sharing their work and personal stories without fear of judgment or exposure. We truly grow together in the workshop.
We provide many opportunities to expose your writing at one of our many open mics. This is also a great opportunity to network amongst other writers and creatives. We also provide an opportunity for all members that have attended every meeting a chance to have their revised work published in our annual literary magazine, LUNA. Aside from events, our biweekly workshops give opportunity to always read and discuss literature and receive feedback on your current writing. The best advantage of joining Writers With Attitude is having a community you can trust and grow with.
Get anytime access to our biweekly workshop meetings, open mic events, publication in our literary magazine and more. *Please note that the free membership is for writers interested in joining our workshops. Failure to attend our workshops will result in removal of our membership.*
“What inspired me to create Writers With Attitude was my motivation to join a writing community that engaged in books I enjoyed, in a space where members can laugh and speak textually about literature, but also felt like a safe space no matter what we’re discussing. When I found some workshops I could potentially join, I noticed that they were too expensive for my budget, especially for the length of time (average 3-6 weeks). I took a trip to Paris shortly after and came back inspired to create my own workshop.
Creating this workshop, I wanted it to feel like that fun creative writing class you took as an elective that inspired you to change majors. I knew I wanted W.W.A to be informative and inspirational. After each workshop, you will leave not only discussing and debating literature, but also inspired with new ideas, motivated to write and create. We pride ourselves on creating a nurturing environment where every member feels valued. Whether you’re sharing a draft or discussing that week’s reading(s), you can count on receiving thoughtful and respectful feedback. Your voice is important, and we’re here to support your creative development.
Through guided exercises, constructive critique, and open discussions, you’ll have the chance to refine your skills and gain new perspectives. This is a place where you can experiment with your writing, explore new genres, and push the boundaries of your creativity. We encourage you to take risks and embrace the process of discovery, knowing that you are in a supportive and non-judgmental space. Lastly, building connections with fellow writers can be one of the most rewarding aspects of this workshop. It’s made a lot of us feel like family.
A long term goal of mine is for Writers With Attitude to offer college credit to members who fully participate in the workshop.”
