W.W.A Presents: "Family Ties"

Hey Writers!

Join us for our fifth and final meeting of 2024, “Family Ties,” on Sunday, December 8, 2024 from 1:30-3:30pm at Powered by Us studio. We will examine the importance of familial love and friendships as catalysts to fostering a loving community. We will explore how the love ethic attributes to creating a strong foundation for community love. Furthermore, we will challenge ourselves by creating characters and stories that find loving community within friends and family.

As a treat, we will chat and write around a “campfire” and make smores. ;)

Mandatory reading: Chapter 8 of bell hooks, All About Love

Think about

What type of family dynamic do you have?

Why are forgiveness and sacrifice important in creating a loving community?

Why are friendships important to creating a loving community?

We will also begin workshopping our writing this meeting! Please collect a few pieces you would like to submit for peer review. We’ll be reviewing these pieces as potential submissions for our upcoming issue of our lit mag, LUNA. We are only accepting submissions that reflect this year’s theme of Love. We will workshop poetry, short fiction, creative nonfiction, personal essays and short scripts. All bodies of work must not surpass three pages in length. Once you RSVP, email your pieces to us at writerswithattitudenyc@gmail.com. The subject must include your name, date & title. An RSVP is mandatory before emailing your pieces to us.
